Leadership & Governance training – 29 June 2021 — current and future leaders

We have developed a training course to support current and future leaders of our housing co-ops. We are encouraging existing Chairs and any other interest members to attend but at least 2 and up to 4 members from each housing co-op.  We have scheduled two sessions to cater for members with work commitments during the day. The half an hour in between sessions will create the opportunity to mingle with other co-op members. Each session will cover:

  • Running Effective Meetings – looking at the basics around agendas and minutes, roles people take on in meetings, the roles of Chairs in meeting direction and getting meetings back on track.
    • Conflict resolution – perceptions of conflict, ways to resolve conflict around specific scenarios relevant to the group.
    • Motivating and engaging members for active participation – looking not just at what motivates people but what de-motivates them and how we can support this inevitable change people have over time, practical discussion around what strategies have already been tried and what worked and what didn’t.

We have engaged Donatello Amos from Northern Volunteering (SA) to facilitate the sessions and she was highly recommended from current co-op members.
