Chief Executive Officer
The Board of Common Equity Housing SA is pleased to announce the appointment of Anne Gawen as Chief Executive Officer, commencing 1 June 2026. Anne is a highly respected and accomplished CEO of 20 years with extensive experience across the community housing and broader community services sectors.
Throughout her career, she has demonstrated strong strategic leadership, sound governance expertise, and a deep commitment to achieving positive social and housing outcomes for communities. The Board is confident that Anne brings the experience, capability, and sector knowledge needed to lead Common Equity into its next chapter. Her appointment reflects our ongoing commitment to strengthening the cooperative housing movement and ensuring Common Equity continues to play a leading role within the housing cooperative, community housing, and community services sectors.
This appointment follows a period of interim leadership, during which Peter Rutter served as Interim Chief Executive Officer. The Board sincerely thank Peter for his dedication and contribution over recent months. His leadership provided stability, continuity, and direction, ensuring the organisation remained focused on its priorities and commitments during a period of transition.
We look forward to introducing Anne to our Member Organisations over the coming months and continuing to work together to support thriving housing cooperatives and strong communities across South Australia.
